Pumpkin Carving

Kai had lots of fun carving his pumpkin last night. He LOVED playing with the gooey insides of the pumpkin...he was entertained for quite a while. The boys were a little indecisive about what to carve but in the end agreed on the Super Kai logo...well done Daddy:)

Daddy & His Boy

Pumpkin Patch

This weekend we went to the pumpkin patch with some friends. It was perfect for kids...animals, corn maze, hay pyramid to climb on, hayride to the patch, and lots and lots of pumpkins. Here are a few of the zillion pictures I took...

A Special Gift

I had to share with all of you this amazing gift we were given by our friend, Melissa. She is super talented and more creative then should be legal. I have been redoing our guest room/office and she has been very helpful in the process being a) creative b) schooled in design and c) an official color expert. A few weeks ago she arrived at our house with this very special gift for us for the new room that she had painted. The are beautiful and perfect for the room...although, in the future we may need to move them to a higher traffic area of the house so we can show them off more. We love them! Thank you so much Friend...you are amazing and so very generous! The pictures did not turn out as well as I wanted and do not do them justice but here they are....

Melissa also makes wonderful cards. The are my favorites: simple, witty and beautifully made. I will keep you posted as her new lines come out:)

Growing boy...

Kai had his 18 month check up last week. He seems to be right on track and doing quite well. He took his four shots well but it was way harder for me this time. He looked at me with these big eyes after the first two like "Mommy, don't let them hurt me". But, thankfully he recuperated quickly and has hopefully forgot all about it. Here are his stats:
Weight: 25 lbs--40%
Height: 34 inches--89%
Head: 19 inches--55%
This explains why people keep commenting that he looks older than he is....or come up to him and start talking to him and asking him questions that require multiple word answers. It is not so much that he is on the tall side. It is that he is thin and on the tall side. He lacks the "baby fat" that typically still sort of accompanies a kid his age. So, it makes him look older. So *cheers* for looking older than you are, enjoy it while you can kid, enjoy it while you can:)

Wallflower???

At the wedding Kai was very attracted to the dance floor. At first he would just stand at the wall and watch the other kids dancing....
Then he slowly tested how the dance floor felt under his feet.... Oooh...he kind of liked it....

And he danced the night away...

Phil & Gina

Last weekend we had the pleasure of attending Phil & Gina's wedding in which Tyson was a groomsmen. They are an amazing young couple whose relationship we have been blessed to watch from the beginning. We are excited to see the Lord use them as married couple. Phil will be doing Young Life in Beaverton with Gina by his side and we know they will be amazing. They are both extremely talented musicians but more importantly they have huge hearts for the Lord and for others. We love you guys and are so proud of you!

Tickle Me More!

Lately Kai loves to be tickled. I could tickle him until he wets his pants (oh wait, not that big of a deal for him I guess)...well, I can tickle him until I think he is going to burst, let's say, and as soon--I mean, as soon--as I stop he quickly asks for more. Literally, uncontrollable laughing to "more" with the ooore exagerated. I can literally see him saying it in the bottom picture. Oh, such a funny kid!

Fast

Jump!

Kai has just started to get his feet off the ground when jumping this last week. It is a new favorite game...

18 months...

My dear sweet boy. You turned 18 months last week and I can't quite grasp it. You are growing so quickly, each moment passing faster than the last. This morning you lay in my arms wrapped in your blanket with most of your body hanging off my lap. I was touching your soft little cheek and you smiled...with your eyes first, just like your Daddy...and then softly caressed my cheek with your precious little hands. Times like this are priceless to me. It lasted only a minute and you realized the day had begun and there was so much to see and off you went.
You are talking up a storm. Repeating at least one word in almost all of my sentences. I am learning to decipher your little words but I fail sometimes. Sometimes you will repeat the same thing over and over and look up at me so frustrated. I am sorry for those times and will try to listen closer.
Thank you for the joy your bring us, son. Thank you for each squeal of delight, each jump of joy and each exaggerated expression. Thank you for making me laugh when I am frustrated. Like the other night when you would not eat your dinner...I was frustrated. But you knew what to do--you covered up your eyes and slowly peaked out between your fingers. How quickly you turned my frustration to laughter. I tried not to laugh because really, you needed to eat, but I so appreciated your little sense of humor...so young, yet so observant.
There is so much to say about all that you are doing, but for now just know that in all you do, I love you. In so many ways you bring me joy, but even when you do things that do not bring me joy, I love you.
I love you, I love you, I love you my dear sweet boy...

E!

I was blessed to hang out with my dear friend, Erin last weekend. It had been way too long since our last visit and it was so refreshing to have time to visit and catch up. I was not smart enough to get a picture of her and I together but I did catch Kai and her making "cheese" faces:) Thanks Erin for coming down...I hope we can do it again soon!
