4th of July Fun

We had a great 4th of July...it was a wonderful day to just hang out and relax. Tyson had the day off so we walked down to the church nearby and just hung out in their little park area. We took pictures of Kai (below) and Tyson played his guitar. While I was taking Kai's picture he rolled over a few times and I caught one on tape. Tyson pointed out that he was on a slight hill so that helped him...but we were proud anyway. I can't seem to get the video to show up but if you click on the red X below it will take you to the link for the video...if anyone knows what I'm doing wrong let me know:)

Later in the day we went to the driving range and hit a bucket of balls before heading over to our friends Jonathan and Lacey's for a BBQ. We had a great time eating yummy food and playing lots of games in the yard. Tyson was victorious in both games:) Kai was very patriotic in his little outfit Nana got him.
When the sun went down we went with our friends Caitlin and Ryan to the fireworks here in town. Kai loved looking at the lights and colors and the noise didn't bother him a bit.

Kai Is Three Months Old!

Each month I have been doing a mini photo shoot on (or near) Kai's monthly bithdays. I can't believe it has been three months!

Creeping Along

So yesterday I put Kai on his tummy for "tummy time" while I was making dinner. I was hoping he would roll over but instead when I checked on him a couple minutes later I noticed he was moving off his mat somehow...so I took a series of pictures to show his progress. He was getting pretty mad towards the end...hence the red face...but he did a good job of struggling through it and in the end he moved about a foot. The madder he was the more his legs moved and inched him along. Here are the pics I took.
This photo is a reenactment of where I originally put him down
This is where he was when I first noticed he was movingAnd he kept moving...
Until he got really mad and I got the idea he was done:)

Tuffin' It Out

Everyday God amazes me through Kai. It's the small things...the new things he does, the smiles he makes, the way he wants to stand up (with our help of course) and show how strong he is, his perfect little fingers and toes and chubby cheeks...you get the idea. But it is also in the way he handles situations...really God has blessed us with a child who will basically suck it up. Two times this week we have been in situations that I thought for sure he was going to break down and cry or at least be really unhappy. After a softball game we were out to dinner and he was an hour past his normal feeding and bed time (and he hadn't slept for hours)...and he was so good...didn't even make a peep. That wasn't a huge deal, but one of those times that I left just remembering how blessed we are to have such a easy going baby. But last night was the kicker. We decided to go out on the river with some friends and one of our friends just happened to have an infant life jacket so Kai could come. Now, I hate wearing life jackets and just looking at him made me feel uncomfortorable...but again, he was a trooper. A few little squeaks at first, but then he just kicked back and relaxed. In fact...he loved it, especially when we went fast! And even when I again, went more than a hour after his normal feeding he hung in there. It is such a blessing to have a baby that lets us still do the things we love...I guess we would do it anyway but it would be a lot less fun if he was unhappy...and we probably wouldn't get invited back to things:) Anyway, thanks for letting me go on about him. I am some what using this blog to record stuff for Kai to read when he is older so there will be times I am writing more to him than anyone...and this is one of those times. Thanks Kai for being such a good boy and for having fun with Mommy and Daddy while we do the things we love! We love you son!

Here are some pictures from our evening on the river.

BBQ & Date Night

This week we had a fun BBQ over at our pastor's house with our small group. It was fun to see all the kids together and just relax and have fun. Here are some pictures from the evening.

Kai was just kicking back and relaxing with Daddy!

Tyson and I had our first night out without Kai on Saturday. As much as I love my son, boy was it freeing to get out with just the two of us! We went to the St. Paul Rodeo and watched the PBR Challenger. It was a great time to just hang out with my hubby! Thanks Caitlin for babysitting...and thanks Kai for being good for her so she'll do it again:)
